As we stand on the threshold of a truly momentous occasion—the Golden Jubilee of our joining Calicut Medical College—We are all filled with immense joy and gratitude to be part of this incredible milestone. Fifty years ago, we stepped into a world of possibilities, driven by dreams, curiosity, passion, and enthusiasm. Those years shaped our careers and gave us friendships and memories that have stood the test of time. Today, as we look back, we can proudly say that those days laid the foundation for the journey of a lifetime. We have walked unique paths, achieved remarkable milestones, and contributed to society in ways that would have made our younger selves proud. Yet, it is the bond we forged during those formative years that remains one of the greatest treasures of our lives. This Golden Jubilee is not just an opportunity to relive cherished memories but also to celebrate the enduring spirit of our batch, which continues to thrive despite the passage of time. Let us come together to reminisce, reconnect, and rejoice in the company of family & friends who were once and will always remain a significant part of our lives. We from the organizing committee of CMC 19 Golden Jubilee look forward to seeing all of you, reliving the laughter and stories, and cherishing the warmth of camaraderie that time cannot fade.
With warm regards and best wishes,
Organizing Committee
CMC 19 Golden Jubilee (1975-2025)
Calicut Medical College, officially known as Government Medical College, Kozhikode, was established in 1957 and holds the distinction of being the second medical college in Kerala. It was set up to address the growing need for healthcare professionals in the Malabar region. Initially, the college functioned in General Hospital (Beach Hospital), but by 1959, it moved to its current sprawling 270-acre campus at Kozhikode (Calicut), near the foothills of the Western Ghats. The institution grew rapidly, becoming a prominent center for medical education and healthcare in South India. Over the years, it expanded to include numerous departments and super-specialty services, and its affiliated hospital became one of the largest tertiary care centers in the region, catering to patients from northern Kerala and neighboring states like Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The college has also played a significant role in research, education, and public health, producing several renowned medical professionals and academicians. It celebrated its golden jubilee in 2007, marking five decades of excellence in medical education and service. Today, Calicut Medical College is a premier institution with state-of-the-art facilities, a highly qualified faculty, and a legacy of contributing significantly to healthcare and medical sciences in India.
